Yin Studio

Throughout a woman’s life the body is constantly changing, especially during the childbearing years and menopause, and within these times the body can easily become unbalanced.  Chinese Medicine has been treating women’s health for centuries and aims to relieve imbalances in the body.

Chinese medicine has a unique approach to women’s health issues. Instead of just treating the symptom, we treat the root (the reason) and the branch (the symptoms). In my own practice I have seen and treated PCOS, endometriosis, small uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, menopausal issues, infertility and hormonal imbalances; I've seen babies born to women who were told they never had a chance;  and seen chronic pain and suffering from various hormonal issues transform and resolve. Through regular acupuncture treatment, Chinese herbal formulas specific to the patient and nutritional therapy, great change and metamorphosis can occur.

Chinese medicine has been used for thousands of years to help couples conceive. The idea is creating optimal health, vitality and utmost fertile potential by returning balance to what may be out of balance, nourishing what may be deficient and enhancing a couple’s health to the fullest.

Combining acupuncture, Chinese herbs, dietary and lifestyle guidance, many patients with conditions that affect fertility have been able to sustain a healthy pregnancy and give birth to healthy babies.

Treatments focus on promoting optimal gynaecological health and to strengthen and prepare the body to increase its chances of conceiving and to assist in promoting a healthy pregnancy and beyond. Preparing the body can take three to six months and ideally both partners receive treatment.

Yin Studio works with anyone who may be undergoing Assisted Fertility Technology treatments like IVF and IUI, donor eggs, surrogates or have an LGTB growing family.

“Scientific studies have shown again and again that Acupuncture can increase IVF success rates dramatically, in some cases up to 60% over the norm.”

Rest assured, you have found an experienced practitioner with a long track record helping IVF patients of all ages successfully conceive and give birth to healthy babies.

Our unique blend of acupuncture along with expert guidance on supplements and diet specific to optimising the IVF process has evolved over the last decade. As a result of the effectiveness of this highly refined process, over 70% of the patients we see who are undergoing IVF end up giving birth to healthy babies.

Success of IVF (and IUI) depend just as much on the state of your body as a normal pregnancy. Healthy response to drugs, optimum egg quality, and a receptive uterine lining are essential for a high probability of pregnancy and healthy delivery of a baby. By incorporating our unique process combining acupuncture, stress-reduction, lifestyle and dietary guidance , your chances of success are maximised to the fullest.

Yin Studio offers safe wholistic treatments to benefit both the mother and baby in achieving optimum health. Ideally, this journey begins with preconception care to prepare the body for pregnancy. The focus is on physical and emotional well-being to assist in a healthy full term pregnancy, nourishing the baby and preparing the body for the birth and the postpartum period.

There is evidence supporting the positive effect that acupuncture has for women suffering from nausea and/or dry retching during the earlier stages of pregnancy.

Pre-birth acupuncture is a course of balancing treatments designed to prepare your body for birth.  Treatments are usually given once a week from 36 weeks, helping mother’s-to-be prepare physically and emotionally for the birth of their baby.  Pre-birth acupuncture can also ripen the cervix and support uterine tone, minimise anxiety and promote relaxation, encourage the baby into the optimal position for birth, nourish and build energy for labour and recovery and address any specific complaints such as back pain, heartburn or constipation.

After giving birth it is important that the woman’s body is well nourished and balanced to benefit the health of both the mother and baby. This allows sufficient energy levels, adequate breast milk and emotional well being to assist the mother to adjust to the rhythm of motherhood.

Yin Studio specialises in treating muscular skeletal pain and discomfort, releasing tight muscles, and neck and shoulder tension. Benefits of regular treatments are pain relief, more flexibility and joint mobility, reduced stress and often a reduction in headaches. Regular treatments also help prevent overuse injuries.

Clients include athletes, dancers, yoga teachers, nurses, and industry professionals, who depend on regular treatments to keep their bodies in peak condition, to decompress from the aches and pains of daily life, recover from injuries and improve circulation.

Chronic pain is one of the most common problems seen at Yin Studio. A combination of modalities has proven very successful in reducing or eliminating longstanding pain. Some of the techniques can also be applied to acute injuries and for post-surgical care.

It is well known how effective acupuncture is for pain relief. The mechanisms for treating chronic pain have been researched extensively for over 60 years. While there is still much to learn, the neural pathways from acupuncture point stimulation, to the spinal cord, to the deactivation of the pain centres in the brain have been mapped.

Acupuncture has been demonstrated to activate a number of the body’s own opioids (compounds like endorphins which suppress the transmission of pain signals to the brain) as well as improving the brain’s sensitivity to opioids.

Very few people realise how effective Acupuncture can be to relieve stress in all its manifestations, both emotional and physical. A good portion of my practice are people with high levels of stress. They are usually looking for a safe and effective alternative to medication such as anti-depressants.

Everyone responds to stress and emotional distress differently. Prolonged stress can led to physical and emotional symptoms such as; digestive issues, premenstrual tension, insomnia, skin disorders, headaches, high blood pressure and fatigue. Chinese Medicine believes that prolonged emotional states can lead to anxiety disorders, depression, and reduced immune function.

Chinese Medicine acknowledges that everyone is unique and uses an individual treatment approach to assist with mental health issues including sleep disturbances, depression, anxiety disorders, mental clarity and concentration levels.
